Across the public, third and private sectors, organisations and programmes need to model the impacts of projects being considered, and once projects are operational to evidence the actual impacts they make. This is required because establishing those impacts, and the resulting value for money, are key requirements for all initiatives, large or small.

Organisations and programmes are often multi-sector and multi-disciplinary, with a rich breadth of primary and secondary outcomes across a wide range of areas including economic, societal, cultural and environmental benefits. This Challenge seeks a robust, streamlined and user friendly way that enables us to predict impact when planning future projects, and then track the developing outputs and outcomes to evidence and demonstrate the full ‘in the round’ impact.

The Solution

PortF is an Impact Management Platform that helps access both the economic and social impact of government funding. Our easy-to-use digital platform covers all three international impact management methodologies, focusing on automating impact monitoring, data collection and analytics for the funders, mapping to various frameworks including NPF. For the grantees and investees, PortF allows consolidation of reporting requirements and reduces the burden of duplicated reporting. PortF’s flexible platform is suitable for many use cases including grant, investment, project and procurement impact tracking.

The Opportunity

PortF’s intuitive platform can increase the level of impact reporting carried out across government entities and other bodies, and drive consistency in impact measurement across private, public and third-sector spending and investment in Scotland. PortF’s solution reduces the cost, burden and time required for reporting for the investee and funder through workflow automation and improved real-time communication.

Next Steps

To further enrich the existing platform and toolkit to become the only impact platform users need to assess, track, and measure environmental and social impact. We are releasing easy to use Carbon Calculator, and incorporating SEPA flood mapping, deprivation index, geo-mapping, and flexible framework mapping tools. PortF is also developing partnerships to offer Impact/ESG advisory, legal assurance and disclosure.
